Just as all the other positive reviews have stated. This is a fantastic laptop. Looks great, feels strong and well built. The brushed metal finish is a nice touch, and nice to touch. Yeah it is a fingerprint magnet but that can be cleaned easily. The keys are soft and quiet. The touchpad is responsive, though this is perhaps the cheapest feeling part of the laptop. The sound is good, not great. But definitely better than most other competitors.

Inside? the dual graphics is a blast. Processor could be faster but nvm. The fans are on the sides, a feature I love after my last laptop that had the fans on the underside. Only issue is when playing games my wrists tend to fall in the path of the hot wind blowing from the fans! at last its good to know the heat is escaping. Not bothered about lacking an optical drive. Download games from steam so no need for a dvd. An external optical plugged into the usb 3.0 is good enough for watching movies.

The full HD screen is crisp & clear. Just how it should be. This is a gaming machine so not having a touch screen is irrelevant.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play games or work with photo / video editing.

I don’t often write reviews. Only if I feel an item is truly exceptional, and this laptop is! My primary uses for this computer is gaming, Handbrake (video converting), and typical stuff like web browsing, email, etc. Overall, this computer is attractive, versatile, sturdy, and powerful.

In setting it up, it has typical bloatware which wasn’t hard to remove. It shipped with Windows 8, and after doing initial updates FIRST, you can then go onto the Windows Store to download the update to 8.1. The update was prominently displayed within the store, and after clicking install, it took care of the rest.

However, once you’ve updated the computer to Windows 8.1, the 2nd graphics card in the Ultrabay becomes disabled. This is easily remedied by following these steps. 1) Go to this website: [] 2) Download the driver update at the top of the page. 3) Go to your download folder, and locate the .exe file (should be the 4th one down with the little shield symbol on it). 4) Double click the driver update program. 5) A black window (your terminal) will open. Keep clicking enter every time it asks you what you want to do until it’s finished and closes. 6) Restart the computer. 7) Right click the Windows button on the bottom left of your screen and select Device Manager. 8) Once the Device Manager window opens, right click on Display Adapters and select “Scan for Hardware Changes. If you don’t scan for hardware changes at this point, it may only display one of your graphics cards in the drop down menu instead of both. Scanning will bring back the 2nd card if it wasn’t already displaying. 9) Left click on the arrow to the left of Display Adapters. This will show both graphics cards underneath. The 2nd card will have a yellow triangle. Right click on it and disable it. Right click on it again and enable it. And that’s it!- you’re all set now and can close device manager out. Some of you reading this might feel this is a complicated procedure, but it really isn’t. I never did anything like this before until now, and I did’t have any trouble. Also, I did’t have any step by step outline like I’m giving you. Once the initial setup was complete, it’s now able to handle whatever you throw at it.

The build quality is truly solid. The chassis has no flex to it, and this is due to everything but the bottom being aluminum. The bottom is officially plastic, but is as hard as the rest of it. Again, NO flex. The keyboard is really nice. High quality, easy to type on, and almost completely silent. The red backlit keyboard isn’t too bright, and has different intensity settings. The speakers produce a good sound, though there is no subwoofer like some laptops have. The weight of this laptop however, is heavier than average, but lighter than the average gaming laptop, which this definitely is. It might be a little heavy if you want to take this with you to campus, work, or wherever. But that’s the consequence of having this kind of performance.

The i7-4700MQ processor is one of the top processors on the market right now! Combining that with 16gb of RAM, and it’s ready to execute whatever commands at blinding speeds. However, the weakness of this laptop is the HDD at 5400 RPM. A 5400 RPM HDD is merely average. The HDD you’ll find in any run of the mill laptop currently on the market. Although average, I haven’t noticed any lag in performance, but know to fully unlock the potential of this laptop requires an SSD. After doing extensive research, I ordered the Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 256 GB SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive MZ-7PD256BW, because it’s the top one on the market right now. On the Game Debate website, the CPU is rated 10, the RAM is rated 10, and the GeForce 750M SLI-(Dual Graphics Cards) is rated a 9. All on a scale of 1-10. In terms of performance, this laptop is equal to or exceeds some Alienware (not the 17) gaming laptops which can cost hundreds of dollars more.

The Ultrabay on this laptop is a versatile luxury, but difficult to find the accessories at this time. I found a compatible tray on eBay for my soon to arrive SSD for around $20. It currently has the 2nd graphics card in it, but it’s nice to be able to conveniently swap out for an optical drive, fan, or hard drive.

One of the most demanding things you can do on a laptop is video conversion using Handbrake. My old core two duo would convert at an average of 11-35 fps depending on the movie. This laptop has hit speeds of over 300 fps! With this laptop, I can convert movies from Mkv to MP4 in 20 minutes or less. And that’s with the current 5400 RPM HDD. Once the SSD is installed, I’m sure it will be even faster.

As for gaming, I installed the three Bio Shock games, Metro 2033, and Metro: Last Night. There is absolutely NO issue playing any of these games! There hasn’t been one glitch, freeze, or crash. The frame rate is…

Simply put this laptop is great. It was fast out of the box and after dropping in a 500GB SSD, it is blazing.

I bought the model 59385820 which comes with both of the graphics cards and was curious about the additional SSD. Here’s the deal with it, the 1TB hard drive has a 8 or 16GB SSD built in for caching, there is not a separate drive in the computer (Which is what I was hoping for).

The only thing I don’t like about this computer is that my battery dies extremely fast when just doing everyday work (I am a web developer). So with a full charge, I may get 90 minutes of batter time which is just ridiculous to me, but I’ve read that it is the hidden myth about SSDs.

Either way, great computer and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice, fast laptop that plays games (I play Guild Wars 2) incredibly well.
