As the other reviews have mentioned, this battery is a perfect fit original replacement battery for MBP laptops. Upon inspection, the battery has never been used and its cycle count shows 0 charges. The battery that received indicated that it was 1.9 years old using the battery health application. Lithium Polymer batteries, like this one are subject to aging that reduces their performance over time even if unused. So while this battery has not been used, I’m not sure that I’d call a 2 year old battery new. New Old Stock (NOS), would probably be a better description. Considering that this battery is half the price of what the Apple store charges, I think its a decent value for the money. If it lasts half as long as a “new” battery, I will have gotten what I paid for.

I would give it 5 stars because it has worked great. The only reason for 4 stars is because I keep getting the X on my battery logo on the menu bar up top. I have Googled the issue and found out the SMC fix…so I did that and all was well. Then today the X came back on the battery logo and it looks like I’ll have to do it again. Pain in the @$$ to remove the back of my Macbook Pro (mid-2010) over and over…but oh well. The battery still holds a great charge (despite the issues) and the light on the magsafe power charger is what tells me if it’s fully charged or not…stupid I know. I’ll do a few more things and try to reseat the battery and the SMC reset again…then update.

    **UPDATE**
Other than the SMC fix (Google it), there is no way to do it. Even after doing it, the X comes back for the battery logo. Other times it would work properly and then fail again. So I gave up and bought a new MacBook Pro. Again, if you don’t care…get that battery. You will surely get 6-7 hours with it regardless. The issue is when you don’t know how much juice you have left. iOS gives you that pop-up saying you are now on reserve battery, so that’s no biggie…but I wasn’t always near an outlet or my charger to connect it. I would suggest it if your battery cycles are over 500+ and you don’t want to get a new MacBook Pro. It will definitely have your Mac up and running again for years without having to buy a whole new one.
